SUMMER
JUNE - Getting Ready for a summer trip? If you work on your own car, you can recycle used motor oil, antifreeze, and other Household Hazardous Waste items you find in your garage at the West County HHW Facility. The HHW is open every Thursday and Friday and the first Saturday of every month from 9 AM to 4 PM, with a lunch break from 12 noon to 12:30. Call 1-888-412-9277 for more information.
JULY - Summer's here and the time is right for reuse and recycling. Make your next picnic waste free by using Tupperware, recyclable beverage containers, and reusable plates, napkins, and utensils.
AUGUST - Want to learn more about recycling and solid waste at work? Recycle more at work - it's good business!

FALL
SEPTEMBER - It's back to school time. Did you know that every school in West County has the same recycling service that is available to residents? Teachers, call 510-215-3125 for more information about the resources available to you.
OCTOBER - Home composting converts your organic kitchen and garden scraps into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. To learn how to compost, attend a free home composting workshop. Call 510-215-3021 for the schedule.
NOVEMBER - The holidays are coming! Do your part to reduce waste this year with clever presents wrapped in a new tablecloth or dishtowel, or give an "eco-present" such as a compost bin or rechargeable batteries.

WINTER
DECEMBER - A live, potted tree is a great way to celebrate the holidays. After the holiday, you can plant the tree or keep it in its pot to enjoy the next year.
JANUARY - Having a party? Rent plates, utensils, and glassware instead of using disposables. Don't forget to recycle all those beverage containers, boxes, and wrapping paper left over from the holidays!
FEBRUARY - Money tight? If you are doing a good job recycling, you might be able to save a few dollars per month by reducing your garbage cart size from 35 gallons to 20 gallons. Call Richmond Sanitary Service at 510-262-7100 or, if you live in El Cerrito, East Bay Sanitary Company at 510-237-4321.
