Residents of Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, Pinole and Hercules Curbside recycling collection is available every other week using your blue recycling cart. Recyclable paper items and containers go in the same cart! Never put plastic bags in your recycling cart. If you must use plastic bags, after reusing them, recycle them at the collection stations at most major grocery stores. For all customers service questions, including missed pickups, or to find out if it is your "blue" or "green" cart week -- contact RSS at 510-262-7100. Items to be placed in your blue cart include newspaper, white and colored paper, notebook and computer paper, magazines and catalogs, paper bags, junk mail and envelopes, telephone books, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, steel/tin cans, aluminum cans, foil and pans, #1 plastic water, juice, and soda bottles and #2 plastic milk jugs. See a visual recycling guide here: recycling guide guía de reciclaje However, DON'T place yogurt containers, take-out containers, milk cartons, juice boxes, bottle caps, plastic bags and film plastic, paper plates, tissues, napkins or paper towels, food waste or snack wrappers in the blue cart. City of El Cerrito Recycling Customers Weekly curbside recycling collection is available on the same day as garbage service. New Grey Comingled Recycling Cart El Cerrito recently switched to a comingled recycling system, meaning you can place all recyclable items in the same grey cart. The items accepted are: Mixed Paper - white paper, colored paper, newspaper, shredded paper, file folders, junk mail, magazines, envelopes, etc Cardboard - must be broken down and flattened Plastic Beverage Containers - all clean plastics, all #s Any Hard Plastics or Food Containers - all clean plastics Glass Containers - bottles and jars rinsed clean (No plate glass or large glass pieces Aluminum, Tin, and Scrap Metals - clean and empty Plastic Film and Wrapping - tightly bagged and tied off at the top- clean grocery bags, bread bags, cling wrap, etc Plastic Chemical Bottles - all clean plastics that contained chemicals- (Must triple rinse) Green Waste Collection Service All West County residential customers who generate yard waste can use a "green waste" cart. The green waste cart is emptied by your collection company every other week alternating with your blue recycling cart. Starting July 1, 2010 residents of El Cerrito and Richmond** will be able to include food scraps and food soiled paper in the list of acceptable materials for their green waste cart. Acceptable Materials for your Green Waste Cart: •Yard trimmings •Grass clippings •Leaves and flowers •Pine needles •Weeds •Uncooked fruit and vegetables ** For El Cerrito and Richmond residents only: you may include food scraps (meat, bones, pasta, bread, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea bags etc.) and food soiled paper (paper plates, paper cups, napkins, paper towels,milk cartons, paper to go cartons) Check out food scraps in your green cart.
