The Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act from 2014 was created for the mattress industry to collect and recycle mattresses to divert them from going to landfills and being dumped illegally in the community. The Mattress Recycling Council (MCI) was created as California’s Mattress Stewardship Program to ensure mattresses, box springs, and futons, are reused, recycled, and properly disposed. ByeBye Mattress is the mattress and recycling program operating in California and was established to make recyling easier in communities and to do good for the environment.

RecycleMore has teamed up with Republic Services along with the Bye Bye Mattress Program, to allow residents of West Contra Costa County to drop-off old unwanted mattresses, box springs, or futons.

During normal business hours, residents of West Contra Costa County (Richmond, Hercules, Pinole, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Bayview, East Richmond Heights, El Sobrante, Montalvin Manor, North Richmond, Rollingwood, and Tara Hills), may drop off mattresses, at the permanent facilty:
