Treecycling is the act of responsibly recycling of your natural Christmas tree at the end of the Holiday season instead of throwing it away into the landfill. It is a responsible act because trees can be used for many other purposes which include compost and mulch.
Here are ways that you can recycle your natural Christmas trees (depending on the city you reside in):
Richmond, California
- Curbside Collection (Pick-Up): Cut and placed in your green organics cart and collected on your regularly scheduled collection day with your waste hauler, Republic Services.On Call Bulky-Pickup: Scheduled with your waste hauler, Republic Services
- Self-Haul (Drop-Off): Take to Golden Bear Transfer Station through first week in February, for a disposal fee.
El Cerrito, California
- Curbside Collection (Pick-Up):

Before you recycle your Christmas tree, please note the following:
- Remove all decorations, including lights, ornaments, tinsel, and the stand.
- Artificial and flocked (for Republic Service area customers) trees cannot be recycled – they must go in the trash.
- Other alternatives can be to donate to a local charitable organization.
